However, with so many bets to place at the roulette table – should you go for high paying numbers or frequent low level wins? Check out the expert thoughts on the best kind of roulette bets………..

Understanding roulette odds

When you first set eyes on a roulette table, be it in down town Las Vegas or one of the cool 3D online roulette reels – the first thing that strikes you it there are so many numbers and sections to put your chips on! You can aim high and try and turn your 1.00 chip into serious money by betting on a single number, or alternatively bet conservatively on red or black for even money returns. However, is there any logic behind choosing your bets?

>Odd, Even, Red, Black, 1-18, 19-36: 1:1
>1 to 12, 13-24, 25-36: 2:1
>6 numbers: 5:1
>0, 00, 1, 2, 3 combos: 6:1
>4 number combs: 8:1
>3 number combos: 11:1
>2 number combos: 17:1
>1 number: 35:1

In theory, the roulette table is designed to offer the same chance of payout success, regardless of what kind of bet you select. For example, if you were to bet on the number 8 with 100,000 spins of 5.00, or alternatively one red 100,000 times – in 'theory' you'd end-up with the same bank balance (a small loss). So you see – roulette doesn't really favour any specific numbers.

However, when you play roulette, you're not really playing with 100,00 bets – you're playing with a small snap-shot scenario. Many roulette experts therefore suggest that because bets such as red and black have a near 50:50 chance, you have a better chance of predicting them correctly. There's a story from Vegas about a British man who risked his re-mortgaged house on an even money red bet, and won! Now, although he could have put it all on a single number (which is of course just as profitable in the long term as betting on an even money selection) – you'd never want to do that in a million years!

This doesn't necessarily mean you need to avoid betting on long-odds bets, but many experienced roulette gamers do favour a strategy where by you focus on the 'bread and butter' payouts with high strike bets. Then – you can strategically or periodically bet on long shots as and when you think the time is right. You can also try and cover you long-shot bet with an even money or dozen wager; for example, 1 credit on 1-12, and 1 credit on number 6. The options are endless with online roulette – and in theory there is no right or wrong way to play the game – so use your instinct, luck and experience to find the way to regular winning success.

Much of the credit for roulette's crown is probably down to the concept of roulette systems, simple concepts that aim to strategically beat the table odds – for frequent victorious spins and sessions. However – what's the spin? Can roulette really be beaten by casual online gamers? Check out the real roulette system facts – including the good and the bad!………..

Why roulette systems?
Roulette is playable with numerous bets – including high strike wagers such as the dozen sections (such as 1-12) and even money selections (red/black or odds/evens)…….

>Odd, Even, Red, Black, 1-18, 19-36: 1:1
>1 to 12, 13-24, 25-36: 2:1
>6 numbers: 5:1
>0, 00, 1, 2, 3 combos: 6:1
>4 number combs: 8:1
>3 number combos: 11:1
>2 number combos: 17:1
>1 number: 35:1

Now – even if you've never played roulette before, it's pretty clear that with a near 50:50 chance, it doesn't take much luck to win with red or black (as reflected by the even money payout). Now, due to the statistical probability of roulette's low odds bets, many gaming strategies have been developed to need just one winning spin from a cycle of spins, to make a profit!

The roulette risk
Ever heard of Russian Roulette? The chances are you have – and it got it's name because every spin of the roulette reel is down to elements of chance. Roulette systems can have very high strike rates, often as high as 99.98% - but that still leaves a small chance of losing! What's more, probability doesn't always play to the rules – usually termed as 'bad luck'. Due to the fact that many roulette strategies use progressive staking plans – losing cycles can be costly to your bankroll. However, played with the right discipline and approach, the systems can be very profitable for some casino gamers.

Check out a couple of classic roulette strategies………..

The 12 section strategy
> Spin the reel with zero bet (1 unit black, 1 unit red)
> Write down the spin results in terms of low, middle and high sections
> When you see five spins where one section doesn't win, get betting with the progressive betting ladder below…….

Wager number	Wager level
1	£1
2	£2
3	£3
4	£4
5	£6
6	£9
7	£13
8	£20
9	£30
10	£45
11	£67

Martingale roulette strategy

> Bet on red or black with 1 unit
> If you win – stop betting/return to 1 credit and a new cycle
> After losing spins – double your spin value and re-bet
> Double-up after losing until you hit your max bet limit/win

Low-risk roulette strategy gaming
The intrinsic risk of roulette systems means that it's imperative to play them with a risk-management plan. Fundamentally, that means implementing a few simple tips…..

> Focus your roulette gaming on fun
> Use a leisure bank to essentially game risk-free each week
> Set a max loss limit with each cycle and session
> Set a modest profit target and withdraw your winnings regularly
> Don't get too greedy when you're winning – remember the risks!

After all, few games deliver such instant-play casino action, coupled with a reputation for lavish, brash sophistication. Now that the game has become a serious online gaming success – check out the allure of the new generation roulette………..

Why play online roulette?
First of all – roulette looks seriously cool thanks to the latest 3D gaming software available at the best web casinos, re-creating the game's genuine opulence and deluxe atmosphere. If you fancy feeling what it's like playing in famous locations such as Monte Carlo and Las Vegas, then online roulette offers an awesome simulation. Naturally, the game-play also retains the ease and speed of the real thing too – making web roulette a joy to play. In its simplest form as a game of chance – you can instantly click on a table section or number and enjoy classic roulette randomisation and payouts………

>Odd, Even, Red, Black, 1-18, 19-36: 1:1
>1 to 12, 13-24, 25-36: 2:1
>6 numbers: 5:1
>0, 00, 1, 2, 3 combos: 6:1
>4 number combs: 8:1
>3 number combos: 11:1
>2 number combos: 17:1
>1 number: 35:1

With wagering levels typically from 0.10 to 50.00 plus – there's also scope for budget casual gaming, all the way to hardcore roulette gambling.

Can the roulette table be beaten?
Roulette is the ultimate deluxe game of chance. However, while many gamers claim roulette is total luck, the fact that the table contains specific odds and probabilities, means that it can be approached with statistical logic. Logic based roulette strategies have the potential to be used to try and beat online roulette with systematic moves.

In essence, there are certain systems that can help gamers get fast returns, often stacking up credit after credit of profit – and potentially some cool session totals during hot runs. However, the risk of systems failing is something roulette gamers always need to consider, and it's critical to be ready to take a hit and survive to re-build you bank……

> Even if you want to play roulette to try and make cash – always base your gaming on fun and use a small leisure budget (always hope to win but be prepared to lose).
> Bank your winnings regularly – with the aim of gaming with the casino's cash for zero risk!
> Use a small credit value with progressive wagering roulette systems
> Take advantage of free casino credits when experimenting with roulette strategies

Check out a classic example of an online roulette strategy – the famous Martingale system……

Martingale roulette strategy
> Spin with 1 unit on even money (such as £1 black)
> After losing spins, click to double your bet value, and re-spin on the same selection
> Quit and re-start the Martingale system after a winning roulette spin
> Set a stop-loss limit (max bet number) to control your risk (such as 7 bets max, starting with a £0.50 spin
